Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia – On 25 June 2025, the Supreme Court of Mongolia, the Judicial Academy, the International Development Law Organization (IDLO), and the Hanns Seidel Foundation jointly convened an international academic conference under the theme “Specialized Court System: The Best Interests of the Child and Family.”
The high-level event brought together distinguished judges, academics, and legal experts from eight countries—Mongolia, Australia, Germany, Japan, the Netherlands, the Republic of Korea, Türkiye, and the United States. Participants engaged both in person and online, sharing comparative insights and legal practices through presentations and expert discussions.
The conference addressed critical issues including:
- Family and cohabitation matters, adoption, divorce, maternal and child welfare;
- The protection of the best interests of the child, guardianship, and the division of joint property;
- Juvenile justice procedures and the adjudication of cases involving minors;
- The structure, organization, and specialization of courts handling family and child-related matters.
This international dialogue provided an important platform for exchanging experiences, fostering judicial cooperation, and advancing the development of specialized courts that place the child’s welfare at the center of justice systems.
